Back when Vampire 1.0 came out...um....about 15 years ago, we all heard how there was going to be a series of games: Werewolf, Magus, Faerie...whatever. I didn't have time to wait so I wrote up Storyteller system rules for Werewolves and Magi. I re-used a lot of the disciplines from Vampire and renamed some of them and I thought they were neat: Still do - though they'll never go anywhere as they were perfect for the gaming world....of 15 years ago :)

in my opinion we produced a better game and that’s meant to be your aim

That's true. And indeed, I am not bound to follow the White Wolf template that they use for all their games (which is one of the reasons I haven't bothered with White Wolf since the new Vampire). And my game isn't written by a committee... :)

It's just daunting to have to sit on something while you watch others move forward.

Similarly my rules for “Magus” were ten times better in my opinion than the rules for “Mage”...

Magus?

Hi Mark - I understand completely. Imagine how I felt when I was just finished the first manuscript for Zombi and a PR for "All Flesh Must Be Eaten" arrived in my mailbox. Of course, in my opinion we produced a better game and that's meant to be your aim. I have only ever endeavoured to build the kind of games that I would want to play. Similarly my rules for "Magus" were ten times better in my opinion than the rules for "Mage" and likewise for "Werewolf". Likewise we had a similar problem with Infurious when we created a "calendaring server for Mac OS X" and completed it just weeks before Apple's announcement of Calendar Server being built into Mac OS X.

Life is full of these little hiccups. But we persevere.
