Update on TDO Mini Forms

I’ve been working on the next version of TDO Mini Forms and the first thing I’ve done is make sure that it works with WordPress 2.7. And it does, the only change is some formatting on the admin menus.

Along with the usual bunch of bug fixes, I’ve implemented new form access options. In the next version you’ll be able to control who can access a form by role, specific users and specific capabilities, which should give you more power. I’m next going to be working on trying to enable forms to be used for editing, not just for submitting.

    Since you’re working on this great script…and I know it’s not in keeping with the Laws of the strict html police…would it be possible to provide an option to have attachments/uploads open in new windows? Yes, I realize I’ll get fined for wanting to do this…

    My plan currently is that after the edit posts is to re-do the File upload widget completely. It needs major overhaul and it’s the most complained about feature. I want to use the new flash uploader they’ve added to WordPress 2.6. To have the attachments/uploads open in a new window shouldn’t be difficult (it’s just “target=_blank” in the link) and I believe that the media-upload in WordPress 2.6 has an option for it already….

    Hi Mark,

    I am very excited to see the new version of one of the best plugins I’ve ever seen. Just so you know : there’s a bug in version 0.12.5 :

    After you hack a form, it is no longer possible to add or delete form widgets. The error message is :

    Warning: Form configuration has been changed that affect the generated form but Form Hacker has not been updated! Diff » | Hack Form » | Dismiss

    Hope this error is fixed in the new version!
    Regards,

    Allard

    Hi Allard, I’m afraid this isn’t a bug. You can still add widgets, but once you “hack” the form, it freezes the output of the form to what ever you hacked it to. So if you want to add new widgets, use the widget page and then re-hack the form. :|

    Hi “bike bali”, the link should be working again now. Apparently wordpress.org were having a problem with download links for *all* plugins.

    The current version is compatible with 2.7. All my current dev is on 2.7 and I’ve encountered no issues besides some formatting on the admin menus.

    In what way is not compatible? It’s very strange that you mention Subscribe To Comments as I’ve added a widget to integrate that plugin with TDOMF.

    Can you try with just the subscribe to comments plugin and TDOMF and using the default theme? I haven’t tested it with wp-cumulus but certainly I’m using it with subscribe to comments plugin on a few sites.

    You’re using the latest version? No other plugins installed? Thats very strange. Perhaps you should attempt to re-install TDOMF?

    Hi Mark,

    I’ve been searching for a solution for the last 5 hours for this problem :

    I would like the original author of a post to receive an email when a comment to his post is published. It’s probably in your wonderful plugin, but I just cannot find it. Drives me mad…. :-)

    Hope you can help,
    Kind regards,
    Allard

  18. Hi Allard, the “solution” is there but you have to use an additional plugin (not one of mine). You need to install Subscribe to Comments 2 and then you’ll find a new widget in your Forms widget. If you add this widget to your form, you can enable it, by default, that the author is subscribed (via email) to new comments on their post.

    Thanks for yor quick response! I added the plugin, but I’ve hacked the form before (resulting in the widget not working) Is there anyway I can add the new widget to a hacked form or do I have to make a whole new form?
    Thanks again!

  20. You can use the diff links to see the changes and just copy and paste in the differences.

    Ok, thanks! One last question :

    Can you tell me what I have to do redirect a poster that has submitted a form, to another page (instead of the thank you message)?

    Thanks again,

    The easiest way, I guess, would be to use a little bit of javascript in the success message:

    <script type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    window.location = "http://thedeadone.net/"
    //-->
    </script>

    Otherwise you’ll have to hack the code.

    Hi Mark,

    When I check the error console of Firefox, it lists an error ‘ tdomfSubmit 24 is not defined’
    This causes the form not displaying the after post messages in IE. Any ideas?

    Thanks a lot!
